Tyrannosaurus is a genus of two-legged carnivorous dinosaurs from the Theropoda group. The only generally recognized species is Tyrannosaurus rex, often colloquially known as T-rex, for short.
Tyrannosaurus was one of the largest landliving carnivores of all time. The largest and heaviest specimen reached dimensions of a good 13 meters in length and a weight of almost 9 tons. Weight estimates by various scientists vary considerably, with the most recent estimates being between 5.4 and 6.8 tons.
